Piling your plate up high with avocados, spinach and olive oil could help protect against air pollution according to a recent study carried out at Kings College London and Nottingham University. The reason? They are all good sources of vitamin E, which is thought to help protect the lungs against particulates – tiny particles of harmful smog.
TOMATO JUICE HELPS HOT FLUSHES
Menopausal and feeling anxious or irritable? Try drinking a glass of tomato juice a day. Tokyo University found it helped relieve symptoms including hot flushes. It’s thought that chemicals in tomatoes may act in a similar way to oestrogen.

The benefits of vitamin D continue to grow. It now seems it may help in the fight against obesity. According to a report presented at the recent European Congress on Obesity in Prague, overweight and obese people are more likely to be deficient in vitamin D, but taking supplements can help boost their chances of weight loss.
